Significance of Eid al-Adha
Eid al-Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is one of the most important religious holidays in the Muslim faith. Muslims commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) in obedience to Allah.
During Eid al-Adha, it is customary for Muslims to slaughter a sacrificial animal (typically a sheep, goat, cow, or camel) and distribute the meat to the poor and needy.
